The rules at Texas Hold’Em

Read the opponent

If you compete against other good players, you have to be able to play more than just play your own hand thickness. Instead, the key to success in such games is to read the opponent's hand and to make it as good as possible decisions.

In practice, this works in such a way that we should assign a so -called "range" to our opponents. This is a selection of hands that the player probably has at all times.

Here is a simple example:

• Our opponent opens in an early position with a raise. From experience we think it is very likely that he would only do this with a very strong hand. Our range for this player could, for example, consist of strong ass (AJ, AQ, AK), strong Broadway hands (KQ, KJ, QJ, JT) and couples higher than 77.
• Now the flop comes in different characters with 85J. Our opponent releases again. In this case we can eliminate part of its range. It is very likely that he would not set with hands like 77, 99 or KQ.
• We pay for the operation and a 10 is now coming on the gym. Our opponent is putting again. Many opponents would only make this assignment with a strong hand like at least one pair of boys. In this case, his range would be AJ, KJ, QJ, JT, QQ, KK, AA, 55 and 88.
